1. Introduction

This privacy policy describes which data is processed when you use Kubiq (website and mobile app), why we process it, and how you can exercise your rights.

2. Data we process

Account data: user identifier (UID), email (if provided), display name/alias, profile picture (if provided), preferences.
Content and interactions: posts, comments, likes, follows, messages, community/room membership, and in-app notifications linked to these actions.
Location data (optional): if you allow it, the app may access your location only while the app is in use (foreground) to provide weather and/or local information. You can also choose a city manually. We store city/country and related coordinates on your profile (e.g., mycity, mylat, mylong), rather than continuous tracking.
Notifications: technical identifiers required to deliver push notifications (e.g., notification tokens). These are used only if you enable notifications.
Technical data: minimal technical logs (error logs, technical events, session-related info).

3. Why we access data frequently

Kubiq relies on a real-time database (Firebase/Firestore) to show up-to-date content (posts, comments, messages, notifications, memberships). This implies regular reads in order to:

Sync: your data across devices (e.g., read/unread notifications, recent content).
Update the UI: in real time (e.g., new messages, new posts in a community).
Secure access: (check permissions/status: account, membership, restrictions).

4. Purposes and legal bases (GDPR)

Service delivery: (contract): account, content display, messaging, communities.
Personalization: (legitimate interest / consent as applicable): weather/local content via optional city/location.
Notifications: (consent): push notifications if enabled.
Security and abuse prevention: (legitimate interest): spam/fraud prevention, unauthorized access protection.
Legal obligations: retention or disclosure when required by law.

5. Data sharing

We may share data in the following cases:

With other users: your public content (posts, public profile) is visible depending on your privacy settings.
With service providers: hosting and infrastructure (e.g., Google Firebase: Auth, Firestore, Cloud Messaging) strictly to operate the service.
With authorities: if required by law.

6. Retention

We retain data as long as necessary to operate the service and/or while your account is active. Some data may be retained longer when needed (legal obligations, security, abuse prevention).

7. Your choices and rights

Notifications: you can enable/disable them in your device settings and/or in-app settings.
Location: you can refuse the permission and choose a city manually.
GDPR rights: access, rectification, deletion, restriction, objection, portability (as applicable).

8. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures (access controls, security rules, abuse protection). However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
